Housing Choice Voucher waiting list will remain Closed
The Housing Authority will announce the next opening of the Waiting List in the following newspapers
- The Californian
- Monterey Herald
- South County News
- Monterey County Weekly (formerly Coast Weekly)
- Seaside Post News Sentinal
- El Sol

Date of notice: August 2, 2006
If you submitted a Section 8 application during the week of Sept 12 – 16, 2005 or March 13 - 17, 2006, please read the following:
- Placing your name on the waiting list does not guarantee future eligibility or assure that subsidy funds will be available.
- Your name will be added to the waiting list of 2000 applicants currently waiting for assistance and there will not be immediate assistance available. Please be patient and wait until the Housing Authority contacts you regarding your placement. Mail and emails will not receive a response at this time.
- The Housing Authority is in the middle of a computer conversion and will not be sending out notification of your placement on the waiting list for at least 3 months from the date of this notice or longer.
- You must notify the housing authority in writing of any change of address or in change of family composition. Please include your social security number on any correspondence sent to us. Changes will be made prior to contacting applicants about their placement on the waiting list.
- If you do not notify the Housing Authority in writing of a change of address and any correspondence from the Housing Authority to you is returned or you do not respond to a scheduled appointment or any request for additional information, your application will be removed from the waiting list and you will need to wait until the waiting list is open again to apply.
